Playlist: Lord of Shadows

Hey, rad readers!

We are back at it with another playlist! This time we will be putting music to the amazing, enchanting, and all-around perfect Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare! WARNING: This contains spoilers! Read/listen at your own risk!

If you want to listen along, here is our Spotify playlist…

1.  “Hallelujah” by Panic! At The Disco

Because we were definitely up on out feet, praising the Lord when Jace showed up on page 2! Loved the little Herondale reunion between him and Kit (now we just need Will to show up. *Wink, wink* Cassie)

2. “Temporary Fix” by One Direction

Mark is doing quite well at pretending to be Emma’s boyfriend,  but we all know its only fixes the problem temporarily.

3. “What Hurts The Most” by Rascal Flatts

This basically summarizes the whole book with Jules pining after Emma. However, he was definitely hurting the most when he was watching Emma and Mark on the beach together (aka when Mark gives Emma a goldfish! How cute!). Yet, they still had to act as parabatai and slay that sea monster together. (This song also probably applies to when Emma fell on Jules after fighting the demon, because man, breaking her fall had to hurt just a little.)

4.  “Grenade” by Bruno Mars

Mark goes to the Unseelie Court to rescue Kieran. Julian, Emma, and Cristina go to the Unseelie Court to save Mark who’s saving Kieran. So, basically all these characters would “catch a grenade” for someone.

5. “The City” by The 1975

Malcom Fade sends his sea demons to attack the LA Institute to get Blackthorn blood. Time to portal to the city, aka London. London Institute here we come!

6. “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” by Ed Sheeran

While the Blackthorn kids are portal-ed safely to London, Arthur Blackthorn heroically stays back to try and fight Malcom. However, given that he has been out of practice for quite some time, Malcom easily overpowers him and uses his blood to raise Annabel. But Arthur’s death is not in vain. The second after Annabel returns to life, she immediately turns on Malcom and stabs him. Annabel clearly did not need Malcom as much as he needed her.

7. “Ghostbusters” by WALK THE MOON

Ty gives Kit the Voyance rune and can suddenly see Jessamine’s ghost (who is still working hard at protecting the London Institute!)

8. “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes

Even with their extensive knowledge of the faerie realm, Mark and Cristina still end up bound together, meaning that if they are separated, they will both be inflicted with an intense amount of pain. They definitely are going to need stitches if they are to survive this faerie prank.

9. ” The Boys Are Back” from High School Musical 3

This is definitely the song we heard in our head when Magnus shows up to save Ty, Livvy, and Kit at the London Shadow Market, and when he and Alec stayed to help them out at the Institute. THE BOYS ARE BACK! Do we need to say more???

10. “Just Another Day In Paradise” by Phil Vassar

Jules and Emma are staying in Malcom’s cottage and basically creating a whole domestic life for themselves. Who needs to save the world when you can make cheese sandwiches, am I right?

11. “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” by Katy Perry

Mark and Cristina find themselves dancing in the Institute’s ballroom, and are later accompanied by the world-renowned dancer, Kieran himself… I don’t know about you, but we were definitely getting some “ménage à trois” vibes from these three in this scene.

12. “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)” by Fall Out Boy

The Riders of Mannan show up at the Institute and threaten to kill an innocent  mundane. Emma storms out of the Institute to fight them. Later  she is followed by the rest of the gang (was locking the Institute’s doors really necessary??). A fight breaks out, and though everyone is still alive, it is clear that the Shadowhunters are losing. That is, until Annabel shows up (thanks to Ty’s letter, of course).

13. “How to Save a Life” by The Fray

I don’t think we will ever be able to fully move on from the deaths of Robert Lightwood and Livvy Blackthorn. Definitely went through a whole box of tissues after that ending. (But refer back to “Ghostbusters” by WALK THE MOON. Kit can see ghost!! Meaning he might be able to Livvy’s and/or Robert’s ghost in the next book! Fingers crossed!)

There you go! These are thirteen songs to help you relieve the epic story that is Lord of Shadows. If you still feel as though you want to spend more time in the world of Shadowhunting, go ahead and check out our review and our favorite scenes post for LoS!

Hope your day is filled with cheese sandwiches and ballroom dancing!
